The Dress: Sample Sales

If you've got your heart set on a designer wedding dress then one of the best ways to save money is to hit the sample sales.

Sample sales for anyone who doesn't know are where the bridal boutiques sell of the dress samples that they have in stock from last season. Usually when you visit a boutique and you try on a dress and decide to buy it, it will be specially made for you and thus take up to 4 or 5 months to arrive. The samples are bought by the boutique at the beginning of the season, tried on by potentially 100s of brides and then sold off at a discounted rate at the start of the new season.

As a result you will likely see some sample dresses that are a little damaged or ever so slightly grubby... BUT a few replacement beads and a dry clean is usually a lot cheaper than the full RRP

There are some brilliant sample sales around, especially at the beginning of the year I'll always post about upcoming sample sales that are worth a visit but you need to be ready to buy there and then so before you visit the sales I'd always recommend that you make appointments at some boutiques and figure out what you're after, what suits you and most importantly what feels good! Don't buy something beautiful but agonising, you will regret it on your wedding day when you can't eat... or breathe.
