Pretty Dangerous | Budget Wedding Blog

It's bonfire night, and in my opinion THE best party holiday! I love fireworks and sparklers and today all my favourite wedding blogs are brimming with ideas about how you can incorporate these into your weddings.

At the risk of being labelled a party pooper I'm sharing this brief post about a particular fire related wedding trend: Chinese Sky Lanterns and why I'm not a fan...

Releasing Chinese Sky Lanterns has become ever more popular in recent years at weddings, and as beautiful as they are, they are also very dangerous to wildlife and can pose a serious threat to animals and farmers crops, not to mention people too.

There have been some horrific deaths and injuries to animals and the landing lanterns can also destroy habitats.  Sending burning litter up into the sky is never a good idea, no matter how pretty it might look...

If you want to read more about the dangers of Chinese Sky Lanterns click here. If you were planning on having them released at your wedding I really sincerely hope you will change your mind, there are loads of ways you can play with fire on your wedding day without posing such a terrible threat to wildlife.
