Authentic Vintage Bridal | Budget Wedding Blog

I have some beautiful and very affordable vintage gowns to share with you all this chilly Monday afternoon. Laura Bath first got in touch with me last year to tell me all about her new online Vintage Bridal Boutique that offers stunning 1920s silk pieces right through to show stopping Oleg Cassini 1970s numbers. Her dresses range in price but are firmly rooted in the hundreds not the thousands.

The stand out feature of Authentic Vintage Bridal’s clothing is the quality of the dresses, enabling you to be married in the vintage dress you’ve always dreamed of. Where remedial work has been needed, British based seamstresses have hand-restored the dresses to their former glory. Laura is a young mum who discovered her love of vintage wedding dresses when she set out to organise her own wedding. She realised that the only way to get the dress she had always wanted was to seek out an original vintage dress. A year later, and pregnant with her first child, Laura decided to establish her own company, with the aim of helping brides-to-be find the vintage wedding dress they’ve always wanted for a price that won’t drain your wedding budget.

Laura said: “It’s wonderful getting to collect these amazing wedding dresses, it’s like being a kid in a sweet shop at times. There’s something so special about the intricate work, beautiful design and individuality of authentic vintage bridal wear that you just don’t get in off-the-shelf wedding dresses. I hope makes vintage wedding dresses more accessible, and helps brides-to-be find the wedding dress of their dreams.”

“Every woman wants their friends and family (not to mention their other half) to be knocked off their feet as they turn to see you start your walk down the aisle. Nothing does that quite like a vintage wedding dress that is as unique as you are.”

“I loved finding my wedding dress; the moment I saw it I knew it was the one. It’s been so exciting finding the treasures that make up the AV Bridal collection. It’s also exciting to think of brides-to-be lighting up when they see their dream dress in our collection; allowing us to be a little part of their special day.”

Despite now having a new baby to look after, Laura has somehow found the time to set up a website, organise photo shoots and build the foundations for the new enterprise. It’s been hard work, but Laura is now absolutely delighted to present Authentic Vintage Bridal, or AV Bridal, to the world. The Authentic Vintage collection includes dresses from Oleg Cassini, Jay’s Ltd and a recently sourced Norman Hartnell; all designers who have gowns on display in the Victoria and Albert museum. Our dresses are all handpicked with love and our collection is constantly growing. We usually have between 40-50 beautifully restored dresses in stock.

Huge thanks to Laura for sharing her beautiful new business with us today, vintage is set to be bigger than ever in 2015 and is certainly one of my all time favourite themes for weddings, I particularly adore anything from the late 70's with a floaty hippie vibe... sometimes I think I was born in the wrong decade!

  1. Beautiful Dresses, the last one is my favorite.

  2. Very beautiful collection of dresses. I really liked the number five dress. It is very tender and romantic like a dress should be weightless.

  4. Those earrings in your last picture look absolutely gorgeous. Where can I find those? I consider myself a diamond earring fanatic.
